Nearly one in four Americans don’t think global warming is happening, a new survey shows.
The Yale and George Mason universities’ report on
“Climate Change in the American Mind” noted 23 percent of Americans deny the climate change, a 7 percentage point increase since April 2013.
But the survey also found 63 percent of Americans do believe global warming is happening – about the same number that believed so in the spring of 2013; those who didn’t know if global warming was happening or not dropped six points, from 20 percent last spring to 14 percent in December.
The survey also found 51 percent of Americans are worried about the climate change, but that fewer than half think it will harm them. Sixty-five percent said they think global warming will hurt future generations.
The survey comes as Republicans battle an EPA rule that would clamp down on carbon emissions of the nation’s power plants, two reports said.

The rule would require new coal-fired power plants to include carbon capture systems to cut back on emissions,
