LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) —
A Long Beach police anti-gang detective was shot and wounded shortly before midnight Saturday.
Spokesman Sgt. Rico Fernandez says 60-70 officers have spread out in the MacArthur Park area and were searching early Sunday for two suspects believed to be involved.
Fernandez tells The Associated Press that two officers were riding in a car near Anaheim Street and Gundry Avenue when one of the two men opened fire, hitting a detective in the upper body.
Fernandez says the detective has been hospitalized and the wound is not believed to be life threatening.
No other details on the injured officer were released.
