CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The plane that made a miraculous landing on the Hudson River two years ago has arrived in Charlotte, where it will be displayed in a museum.
The flatbed truck carrying the 120-foot-long fuselage of US Airways flight 1549 arrived at midday Friday.
The aircraft made a week-long, 600-mile journey from a hanger in New Jersey, attracting viewers along streets and highways down the East Coast.
The wings from the damaged Airbus 320 were removed and shipped earlier to the Carolinas Aviation Museum.
The flight was heading to Charlotte when a flock of geese disabled the engines on Jan. 15, 2009. Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger III was able to make a water landing on the river in New York City. All 155 passengers and crew members were rescued.
