Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney needs to adopt a more forceful posture against President Barack Obama.
She thus joins the chorus of Republicans who say Romney should adjust his strategy. Much of the criticism has urged the former Massachusetts governor to give more detail about his policy views. But Palin thinks the problem is more that Romney has offered too mild an attack against Obama.
Bill O’Reilly of Fox News asked her Tuesday if Romney’s campaign needs to hammer Obama in a “more personal way” and use buzzwords like “incompetent, dangerous, socialist,”
Politico reports.
Palin responded, “those aren’t just buzzwords. Those are accurate descriptions of the commander in chief.”
Romney’s hammer shouldn’t be velvet, she said. “He should be very aggressive, and he should be adamant in his attacks on Obama’s record, which is so dismal, his plan, or lack of a plan of one, to get his out of these woeful times.” In a nutshell, “he [Romney] needs to be severely aggressive,” Palin said.
She also agrees with conservative radio talk show host Laura Ingraham, who intimated earlier in the week that the GOP should disband if it can’t beat Obama. “I couldn’t have said it better myself,” Palin said. Republicans need to make it clear that this election represents a choice between “free stuff and freedom,” she said.
