The Oklahoma House of Representatives on Monday passed a resolution that calls on public officials to treat abortion as murder, The Hill is reporting.

According to Oklahoma TV station KFOR, the resolution states: "The Supreme Court of the United States overstepped its authority by federalizing the issue of abortion on demand which should have been properly left to the province of each state."

Rep. Chuck Strohm, who presented the resolution, made a statement that said the Supreme Court violated "every act of decency and law" in its support of abortion, Tulsa World reported.

The resolution does not change any laws, according to Tulsa World.

A number of laws limit abortions in Oklahoma, including requirements for counseling and a 72-your waiting period before the abortion, The Hill notes. Other rules forbid abortions after 20 weeks, and say that the Affordable Care Act can only cover abortions if the mother's life is at risk.
