Obama To Use Air Force Planes on Campaign Trail

The U.S. Air Force is reassigning nine cargo aircraft planes previously used to transport weapons and supplies into U.S. bases in Afghanistan and Iraq from military operations to President Barack Obama for visits to campaign events, reports the Daily Caller.

The five mid-size C-130s and four heavyweight C-17s will be used to transport security vehicles, armored limousines, and communications equipment into cities for Obama’s various campaign appearances.

The nine aircrafts will begin servicing the president in April, according to Maj. Michelle Lai, communications officer for the Air Force’s 89th Airlift Wing.

“They’ll stand down in November 2012,” she said.

According to Lai, the aircrafts belong to other Air Force units. “They’re continuing to fly troops or supplies into the [Middle East] theater or across the country.”
