The Navy SEALs who flew a Trump flag on their Humvee during a drive on a Kentucky highway in January reportedly have been punished for violating the service's code of conduct.

An unknown number of SEALs were slapped with administrative punishments stemming from the Jan. 29 incident, Military.com reported.

The soldiers were from Naval Special Warfare Group 2, which is based in Little Creek, Va. They had just completed training at Fort Knox and were in Louisville when the incident occurred. The Humvee flying the Trump flag was the lead vehicle in an eight-vehicle convoy.

Naval Special Warfare Group 2 spokeswoman Lt. Jacqui Maxwell told Military.com members of the military are not allowed to participate in political activities.

"It has been determined that those service members have violated the spirit and intent of applicable [Defense Department] regulations concerning the flying of flags and the apparent endorsement of political activities," Maxwell said. "Administrative corrective measures were taken with each individual based on their respective responsibility."

Group 2 includes SEAL teams 2, 4, 8, and 10.

Video of the flag-flying incident was posted on the internet:
