An MS-13 member who is in the United States illegally was arrested Tuesday for kidnapping and beating a juvenile from a Nashville high school for not joining the notorious gang, Fox 17 reports.
Franklin Jefferson Pineda-Caceras, 18, was charged with kidnapping, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle), four counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and immigration violation.
He had eluded authorities for months. Federal prosecutors also charged him with entering the country illegally.
Police tried to arrest him in July, but he got away after a wild car chase.
Pineda-Caceras, who was born in Honduras, was taken into custody Sept. 8 after getting into a car crash. His accuser was a student at Glencliffe High School. Court documents say Pineda-Caceras pressured the student to join the gang and when he did not, Pineda-Caceras and two other gang members forced him into a vehicle and beat him. The incident happened in January.
