Mitt Romney is a millionaire many, many times over — but he still likes to hunt for bargains.
The former Massachusetts governor was seen in Temecula, California, over the weekend, exploring the aisles of 99 Cents Only, which boasts of carrying "all your favorite brands from the big chains, but at a price that you've come to love."
Romney also visited the nearby auto-parts shop, AutoZone, which crows about having the "right prices."
Local teacher Chris Radcliffe spotted the two-time GOP presidential candidate looking for 99-cent deals and grabbed him for a selfie, which he posted on Facebook.
"I could barely stop him. He was going too fast through the store. I shook his hand and apologized for bothering him," Radcliffe told the
Press Enterprise, which posted the photo.
John Rara, manager of the AutoZone store, said Romney bought two window-shades and was very courteous at the check-out line.
"He let another person go ahead of him. Very nice guy," Rara said told the newspaper.
Romney cost-cutting jaunts are nothing new.
In 2011,
The New York Times reported Romney is "obsessed with scoring cheap flights on the discount airline JetBlue."
A year later, Romney, wearing shades and a baseball cap, was seen pushing a shopping cart through Costco in La Jolla, California as he shopped with his wife Ann, according to
New York Daily News.
