A C-130 military plane belonging to the New York Air National Guard and multiple Black Hawk helicopters circled midtown Manhattan on Tuesday night for about an hour, sending Twitter followers into a tizzy.

The NYPD at first told Buzzfeed News that it didn’t know why the plane was circling the city, but the flight was later said to be a standard military routine according to Colonel Broccoli, commanding officer of the New York Air National Guard 106th rescue wing.
