Fox Considering Whether to Keep Huckabee Amid Possible 2016 Run

By    |   Wednesday, 12 November 2014 09:30 PM EST

Fox News Channel is evaluating whether to keep former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's show in its lineup amid reports he is considering another run for president, Politico reports.

"We are taking a serious look at Governor Huckabee’s recent activity in the political arena and are evaluating his current status. We plan on meeting with him when he returns from his trip overseas," Fox News Executive Vice President of Programming Bill Shine told Politico.

Fox News on Friday dropped Dr. Ben Carson as a paid contributor after he produced a video that was widely viewed as his own foray into the 2016 campaign. The network dropped Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum for the same reasons in 2012 and Scott Brown earlier this year when he decided to run for Senate in New Hampshire.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Huckabee has been taking actions to set up a possible run, though he told the paper he is "not doing anything official at this point," and that he has broadcasting obligations.
