WASHINGTON (AP) — Officials in Virginia's Prince William County say several fires are now under control after forcing evacuations, knocking out power and prompting an advisory for residents to boil water.
No deaths have been reported, though at least four firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
A press release sent Sunday says six fires scorched about 300 acres of land and forced the evacuation of 60 people from their homes.
There also were several fires in Maryland's Prince George's County, which burned more than 600 acres combined. Officials say several homes and businesses were damaged, with losses totaling more than $2 million combined.
Prince George's firefighters were still working Sunday to put out hotspots.
The blazes temporarily shut down Interstate 95 in both Maryland and Virginia.
