Michelle Obama Hangs With Wall Street 'Fat Cats' in Malibu

Michelle Obama Hangs With Wall Street 'Fat Cats' in Malibu

By    |   Saturday, 28 September 2019 11:39 AM EDT

Former President Barack Obama used to rip the Wall Street "fat cat" bankers. Now, his wife is hanging with them, according to a Fox Business report.

The former first lady is living the 1% lifestyle her and her husband have long railed against, dropping as much at $30,000 for a one-week stay at The Ranch, a high-end wellness spa in Malibu, California, Charles Gasparino and Lydia Moynihan reported.

That trip last year brought a handful of Michelle Obama's friends and almost two dozen secret service agents, which made the expensive stay uncomfortable for other guests – a trip being repeated this weekend – according to the report.

"I guess Michelle was nice enough, but it's kind of a hassle and not very relaxing to go on a hike surrounded by guys with plugs in their ears watching your every move," a spa client during the former first lady's visit last year told Fox Business.

At issue is not just the impact of other patrons, but the clients' being targeted in the past by Barack Obama and the hypocrisy of his wife sharing in the lavish stay, Gasparino and Moynihan wrote.

The Obamas are capitalizing on the presidency by signing multimillion dollar book deals and a film deal with Netflix.
