First lady Michelle Obama tweeted her support to "Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts on Monday after Roberts went public about her relationship with girlfriend Amber Laign.
"I am so happy for you and Amber!" the first lady wrote on Twitter while vacationing in Hawaii. "You continue to make us all proud."
She signed the tweet "mo," indicating that Obama wrote the message herself.
In a litany of gratitude to people Roberts says helped her through her recovery from the bone marrow transplant she underwent a year ago, Roberts included Laign.
"I am grateful for my entire family, my longtime girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together," Roberts wrote Sunday.
It was the
first public reference the "Good Morning America" host had made to a relationship with another woman.
Roberts was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and myelodysplastic syndrome in 2012.
