Oops! Sign Touting Literacy Makes a 'Laep' That Shakes Faith

Officials at a Florida high school are a little red-faced about the misspelling on a sign promoting a literacy program.

The huge sign at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg proclaimed: “Laeping To Literacy.”

A custodian put up the letters out of order in the glare of a blazing sun on Friday afternoon, school officials said.

"This was just an accident,” Principal Robert Vicari told The Tampa Bay Times.

“It's every principal's fear,” he said. “I sure hope that sign doesn't end up on Jay Leno."
