Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, delivered a shot to the media Tuesday, saying Americans should not pay attention to the "liberal media" because of its bias.
"Commonsense, reasonable Americans would do well to discount the liberal media since they don't provide fair and objective information," Smith said on the House floor, according to The Hill.
Smith, The Hill reported, then referenced a recent study from the Media Research Center that found the three major broadcast networks have showed bias toward President Donald Trump in his first 100 days by way of negative coverage on their nightly news broadcasts.
"Is it any wonder that half of Americans disapprove of the job President Trump is doing?" Smith said. "The real wonder is that it's not greater, given what the public hears and reads every day."
Trump and other Republicans frequently hit back at the media for what they perceive is bias in coverage of the president.
