Ex-cops Face Sentencing in Post-Katrina Shooting

Thursday, 31 March 2011 06:38 AM EDT

NEW ORLEANS — A former New Orleans police officer convicted in the fatal shooting of a man in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath and a retired officer who burned his body are scheduled to be sentenced.

In December, a jury convicted David Warren of shooting 31-year-old Henry Glover without justification outside a strip mall less than a week after the 2005 storm. Warren faces a maximum sentence of life in prison Thursday. Gregory McRae, who burned Glover's body in a car near a police station, faces up to 50 years in prison.

Both men face mandatory minimum prison sentences of 10 years.

A jury also convicted former Lt. Travis McCabe of writing a false report on the shooting. His sentencing is on hold while his lawyers seek a new trial.
