New York City's homeless situation has gotten worse since Mayor Bill de Blasio took office at the beginning of last year, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said Tuesday, and it's an example of "misguided liberalism at its worst."
"Let's not be politically correct here," Scarborough said on his
"Morning Joe" show. "Let's talk about what's best for the people exposed, sleeping on grates because some left-winger thinks this is more humane, to let them sleep in Central Park where they can get beaten up."

Scarborough, who said he absolutely loves New York City, said that he wonders how much longer the city will put up with de Blasio, and pointed out that his opposition isn't political.
"We can elect liberals that actually give a damn about the quality of life here, who aren't busy trying to turn this city into a social experiment," he said, calling the transformation of the city between 1993 to 2012 "one of the greatest governmental miracles that's ever happened in the past 200 years."
Last week, de Blasio said he is convening a multi-agency city task force to address what he calls the "growing problem" of topless women and costumed characters in Times Square, the city's leading tourist spot. Scarborough said the mayor should be more worried about the homeless than "two or three women that paint themselves and walk around in Times Square."
He also denied claims made by de Blasio that homelessness is up because of the declining economy.
"That's a lie," Scarborough said. "Unemployment is down ... this is because Bill de Blasio, is what, trying to be more humane? Does somebody believe exposing people outside and being outside in a dangerous situation is more humane?"
