TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — The Iranian lawyer for an American woman granted a release on bail says he has met with her and two other Americans detained a year ago and is hopeful she will leave prison in the next two or three days.
Masoud Shafiei says he met with the three detainees Sunday at Tehran's Evin prison and that all are fine.
He told The Associated Press the Swiss Embassy in Tehran is making arrangements for the $500,000 bail payment for Sarah Shourd. The Swiss Embassy represents U.S. interests in Iran because the two countries do not have direct diplomatic relations.
After mixed messages over the weekend, a senior prosecutor said Sunday that authorities would release Shourd on bail due to health problems and that she would be free to leave the country.
