By    |   Sunday, 09 February 2014 10:57 PM EST

Two sisters of an Iowa state representative died of single gunshot wounds to the head at their home in Pittsburgh, Pa., the Piittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Susan Wolfe, 44, and Sarah Wolfe, 38, had "other injuries" that did not contribute to their deaths, said Allegheny County Medical Examiner Dr. Karl Williams. Officials would not say whether the women were sexually assaulted.

Their bodies were found Friday after the sisters, who lived together, failed to show up for work. Sarah Wolfe was a pediatrician and psychiatrist, and Susan Wolfe was a teacher's aide.

They are sisters of Mary Wolfe, is a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives. According to her biography on the Iowa House Democrats website, she is the oldest of eight children.

Police said a vehicle belonging to Sarah Wolfe was found a mile from the home and that it was likely used by the killer.

Rep. Wolfe thanked people for their support on her Facebook page Sunday.

"We are so grateful," she wrote. "Heartbroken, but grateful."
