Most Republicans were never too keen on the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. And now that they control the House, the GOP will be able to jettison the panel,

established by House S
peaker Nancy Pelosi in 2007 to investigate global warming, Politico reports.
Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., made the decision final Wednesday. “This hearing will be the last of the select committee,” he announced.
Sensenbrenner, who has strong doubts about climate change, had sought to continue the committee to investigate White House energy policy. But the committee isn’t a priority for House GOP leaders who have promised cuts in government spending.
Sensenbrenner still might play a role in climate change work for the Committee on Science and Technology.
