A majority of Americans are more thankful to God for their health than their doctors, genetics or a healthy lifestyle, a new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll reveals.

Some 56 percent of those polled are most thankful to God for their good health, while only 24 percent picked their lifestyle choices.

Another 14 percent are most thankful to their genes, while only four percent chose their doctor.

The poll also quizzed Americans on other changing social issues. It found that:

Most Americans think handwritten correspondence still has its place when it comes to "thank you" notes.

Eighty-two percent believe the handwritten notes are an important habit for a younger person to learn, while only 14 percent think of them as outdated and unnecessary.

Americans also choose Aspirin and ibuprofen over marijuana as the medication most thankful for.

When asked to select from a diverse list of medications, 53 percent picked aspirin or ibuprofen, while marijuana took nine percent of the vote and birth-control pills, 7 percent.

Another five percent picked the antacid Tums, and 4 percent chose  the allergy reliever Allegra. Vicodin scored three percent, Ambien got two percent and Viagra just 1 percent.

The poll also found 49 percent of Americans have volunteered their time in the past month, including 31 percent who have done so in the past week at a charity, church, or nonprofit group.

The findings of the poll can be seen in the November issue of Vanity Fair, and on VF.com and 60 Minutes.com.
