Former radio preacher Harold Camping, who predicted the world would end with Jesus' second coming on May 21, 2011, has died at the age of 92.
Camping's Family Radio network released a statement Monday saying he died Sunday night. Camping had suffered a stroke in 2011 that left him weak, and he fell in his home on Nov. 30,
The Huffington Post reports.
He predicted that Jesus would return in 1994 and again in 2011. In March 2012, after the prophecies didn't come true, he closed down his ministry and stopped making predictions, saying his 2011 prediction had been "incorrect and sinful."
"We must also openly acknowledge that we have no new evidence pointing to another date for the end of the world," Camping wrote in 2012. "Though many dates are circulating, Family Radio has no interest in even considering another date."
Camping leaves a wife of 71 years, Shirley Camping, the family statement said.
