GOP to FCC: Why Leave out Google, Skype From Net Neutrality?

By    |   Monday, 14 February 2011 04:12 PM EST

Most Republicans aren’t happy with the Federal Communications Commission’s decision to regulate the Internet through its Net neutrality regulations in the first place. And now Republican members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee wonder why the FCC has exempted Google and Skype from the regulations, The Hill reports.

Google, Skype, FCC, Net, neutrality"If the mere threat of Internet discrimination is such a concern, and if the FCC has done no analysis to demonstrate why one company has more market power than another, why would discrimination by companies like Google or Skype be any more acceptable than discrimination by companies like AT&T and Comcast?" reads a briefing memo from Republicans on the committee obtained by The Hill.

"Is it any wonder that 56 percent of those polled by Rasmussen believe the FCC will use the network neutrality rules to accomplish a political agenda?"
