The GoFundMe page set up to cover George Floyd's funeral and to support his family has exceeded $10 million just a week after being set up, and far exceeding the $1.5 million goal.
The fund was established by Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, to handle funeral arrangements and travel expenses for the family as well as establish a fund for Floyd's children.
George Floyd died May 25 after then-Minneapolis police officer Derrick Chauvin placed his knee on Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes as Floyd begged for air. His death has sparked nationwide protests.
Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Three other officer who stood by were fired, but have not been charged.
A second GoFundMe page set up by Floyd's sister, Bridgett Floyd, to pay for her expenses as she travels to deal with the tragedy has raised more than $300,000.
