Country singing legend Glen Campbell has released a heartrending final song and video. The song, I'm Not Gonna Miss You, was recorded in 2013, two years after Campbell, who is best known for songs such as Rhinestone Cowboy and Wichita Lineman, announced he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

"I'm still here but yet I'm gone / I don't play guitar or sing my songs," Campbell begins, and then pays tribute to his wife, Kim, singing, "You're the last person I will love / you're the last face I will recall," according to CNN. Throughout the video, as Campbell's lyrics recall his struggle with the mind-robbing disease, a combination of personal videos and clips of performances dating back five decades recall his remarkable life. Included is footage of a doctor showing him X-rays of his brain and explaining how the disease will destroy his memory.

Before the 78-year-old Country Music Hall of Fame member and Grammy winner was admitted to a special care facility in April, he was matter-of-fact but upbeat about his condition.

"I just take it as it comes, you know," Campbell told CNN in February 2012. "'I know that I have a problem with that (forgetfulness), but it doesn't bother me. If you're going to have it handed to you, you have got to take it, anyway. So that is the way I look at it."

"There's nothing bothering me," he told USA Today last year. "I'm actually getting along with it. I told it to get out or something. I don't even know it's there.

"I always wanted to sing songs from the heart," he said. "I still do."
