Ga. License Plates May Require ‘In God We Trust’

All Georgia license plates would declare “In God We Trust” under a bill proposed in the Peach State’s Legislature.

Motorists now can buy a sticker with the national motto for $1. The sticker can be placed over the usual county name decal on Georgia license plates.

But Republican Sen. Bill Heath is proposing a bill that would require the motto to be on any license plate made after July 1, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported today. www.ajc.com/news/georgia-politics-elections/georgia-license-plates-could-1227303.html Motorists could buy a county decal sticker if they chose.

Another bill introduced Tuesday would make drug testing mandatory for parents who apply for federal financial assistance. The sponsor, Republican state Rep. Jason Spencer, said taxpayers should not have to subsidize "drug addiction" among recipients of the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.
