George Will loves talking politics — except when his beloved Chicago Cubs have a shot at the World Series.
When inking contracts to speak to audiences around the country, the legendary conservative pundit includes the following clause:
"Please note: If the Chicago Cubs are in the Playoffs or World Series, Mr. Will reserves the right to cancel his appearance at the event.
"Should this occur, the client would have the option to either reschedule Mr. Will's appearance to a mutually agreeable date or have any monies they have paid … returned immediately."
It's a solid bet that Will is making good on that proviso now that the Cubs are locked in battle with the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series — a contest that stands at 2-0 in favor of the Amazins.
As blogger and baseball fanatic Tony Pierce, who runs busblog.com, pointed out on Twitter:
Will is willing to put his money where his passion for baseball is. According a 2014 contract which is posted on the journalism blog
jimromenesko.com, Will rakes in a cool $48,000 per gig.
