FBI agents arrested Steve Martan, 58, in Tuscon over alleged threats he made to Rep. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., the Arizona Daily Star reported Monday.

Three messages left on McSally's congressional office voicemail on May 2 and May 10 contained threats including she should "be careful" when returning to Tuscon and that her days "were numbered." One message full of expletives included a threat to shoot her, the newspaper explained.

The complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Tuscon May 12 said Martan told agents he was frustrated with McSally's votes supporting President Donald Trump's agenda. Martan is an employee with the Miles Exploratory Learning Center in Tuscon. He was told not to report for work while the investigation was under way.

Martan was released on his own recognizance, but is restricted to his home when not working or fulfilling obligations including participation in a mental health program ordered by the court. He also must wear an electronic monitoring device, is prohibited from possessing a firearm or weapon and cannot contact any alleged victims.

McSally represents the same district as former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords who was shot in an assassination attempt in 2011 that killed six people and wounded 13. Giffords was seriously injured in the attack.
