President Donald Trump picked up another in a series of endorsements from rank-and-file police unions in his bid for a second term, getting the backing of New York City's Sergeants Benevolent Association, who called the election "more than a choice between two men."

"Your vote is your choice," SBA President Ed Mullins said in a statement to Fox News. "I just ask that you remember that it is more than a choice between two men."

"It is a choice between world views that will have a very direct impact on police across the nation."

It was the latest in a long list of formal endorsements from police organizations, which also included the largest police union in the country, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the National Association of Police Organizations.

In his statement, Mullins said the SBA encouraged Americans "to vote for President Trump."

"The Trump administration has an undisputed record of supporting police officers at a time when many other segments of society are abandoning or openly attacking us," Mullins said.

"The administration publicly pushed back on irresponsible policies ranging from sanctuary city mandates releasing dangerous criminals back onto the streets, to efforts to deny officers of body armor and other life-saving gear, to misguided mandates revising operating procedures in ways that endanger officers and public safety."

The endorsement is little surprise after the SBA excoriated department executives on Twitter for what it called a double standard, suspending an officer without pay Oct. 25 for blaring over a patrol car's loudspeaker "Trump 2020" but taking no disciplinary action against Chief of Department Terence Monahan for kneeling with protesters during a Black Lives Matter Demonstration in June.
