Donald Trump knows which woman he would like to see on the $10 bill when a redesigned version of the note is unveiled in 2020.
When asked about it Tuesday, Trump said, according to CNN's Chris Moody, that he'd like his mother to grace the front of the bill:
The real estate mogul Trump is running for president as a Republican.
Last week, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced the government's plan to
put a woman's face on the $10 bill, something that has not been done on any U.S. bill since the late 1800s.
The note will feature "a woman who has contributed to and represents the values of American democracy," Lew said, without naming names.
"Our paper bills and the images of great American leaders and landmarks that they depict have long been a way for us to honor our past and discuss our values.
"This decision of putting a woman on the $10 bill reflects our aspirations for the future as much as the reflections of the past."
2020 will mark the 100th anniversary of women having the right to vote.
The Treasury Department
will gather input from the public as to which famous woman will appear on the note. It launched a social media hashtag,
#thenew10, for the campaign.
Alexander Hamilton, who served as the nation's first Secretary of the Treasury from 1789-1795 under President George Washington and is the current face of the $10 bill, will remain on the bill in some form, Lew said.
