A play about the heart and soul of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is coming to a DC theater this summer, Roll Call reported.
Playwright John Strand is bringing play, titled "The Originalist" to the Arena Stage, the theater announced.
Strand premiered the play at Arena Stage in 2015.
"The play is set in the Supreme Court term that ended in June 2013 with a major victory for gay rights. In the play, Justice Scalia debates that case and others with a liberal law clerk, and their odd-couple relationship, with antagonism shading into affection, gives the play its shape," The New York Times wrote in a review then.
Scalia died just over a year ago.
"I don't think anybody would argue seriously that the court is diverse from the political," Strand told Roll Call. "When we put this play together, when Justice Scalia was still alive, it was still in the news and topical for all of the reasons it still is."
President Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch to replace Scalia.
