TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Rep. Gabrielle Giffords might be recuperating in a hospital, but that doesn't mean her normally busy legislative office has stopped working.
In fact, her Tucson office is bustling with all sorts of activity. Staffers are carrying out the type of constituent work that has been a hallmark of Giffords' time in Congress.
Her staff is also responding to the thousands of notes of condolences that have poured in from all over the country since the Jan. 8 shootings in Tucson killed six people and wounded Giffords and 12 others.
Despite being shot twice, Pam Simon couldn't stay away from the office any longer and returned to work this week.
She says "everybody's working very hard, but there's a difference in the spirit. Because we're missing people."
