James Comey visited his hometown after his testimony last week in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee, his father said, adding the former FBI head "enjoyed" testifying.
"He's holding up well—very well. He’s a happy camper. He wants to cool it for a while," J. Brien Comey Sr. told The Record.
Brien Comey said the former FBI director, spending time at home in Allendale, New Jersey, "literally enjoyed" his Senate testimony.
"He likes to bring people up to date on what he's done," Comey Sr. told The Record.
Comey Sr. defended his son giving a personal memo about his Trump conversation to a friend, Columbia Law School professor Daniel Richman.
"He just laughs when I talk about leaking. He turned over one of his documents to a friend. That's not leaking," Comey Sr. told The Record.
President Donald Trump sent a tweet criticizing Comey on Sunday.
"Jim was not aware of what Trump said this morning. It’s a good thing he didn’t know," his father said in the Record’s report.
The father criticized Trump in May over his son’s firing, saying Trump fired Comey “because Jim tells the truth (while) Trump runs around lying most of the day,” according to a CNN interview.
