Colin Powell Chides Obama on Gulf Oil Spill

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says President Barack Obama didn't move swiftly enough to deal with the British Petroleum oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

"The president correctly said the other day that he's been monitoring and following and has essentially been on top of it from the beginning," Powell said Sunday during an appearance on ABC's "This Week," according to Politico.com. "But that impression was not conveyed to the American people, and the comprehensive speech he gave the other day I think he would have been better served and the nation would have been better served if he had given it a few weeks earlier.”

Powell noted that it's been more than a month since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sank, and that it's time for a "comprehensive and total attack" to resolve the environmental disaster.
