"CNN Tonight" host Don Lemon filed an aggravated harassment report with the New York Police Department after receiving racist death threats, TMZ reported.
According to the celebrity news website, Lemon was bombarded with multiple messages on Twitter, some that read: "F– you n–– can't wait to stab your neck" and "U r a pile of rotting Dogs–t, racist, communist, socialist, Liberal moron a–hole, i will find u U will pay. ill see u real soon..."
The user's profile was also disturbing, TMZ reported — and declared the poster to be a "white nationalist conservative. pro gun anti islam anti terrorist anti leftist yes i HATE demorats, blm, antifa, socialists. heavily armed racist.WLM."
The tweets and profile have been deleted. Lemon filed his report to police Wednesday, TMZ reported.
The messages were sent Tuesday to the 51-year-old cable host — a day after he aired an open letter to President Donald Trump to "please stop" amid a controversy over the president's conversation with the Gold Star widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, People magazine reported.
"It was harassment and they also made a threat. The person said, 'I will find you real soon.' And called [Lemon] a f–ing n-word," an NYPD spokesman told People. "It's being investigated at this time."
The police spokesman also said the probe could ultimately be characterized as a hate-crime investigation.
The threat against Lemon comes months after the FBI arrested and charged a Maryland man for allegedly triggering an epileptic seizure for political writer Kurt Eichenwald with a video clip of a flashing strobe light.
