Police: La. Man Decapitated Disabled Son, 7

THIBODAUX, La. — Authorities say a Louisiana man decapitated his disabled 7-year-old son and left the boy's head near the street.

Thibodaux Police Chief Scott Silverii said 30-year-old Jeremiah Lee Wright has confessed to killing Jori Lirette. Wright was booked on a first-degree murder charge and was being held Monday in lieu of $5 million bail.

Silverii said the motive is unclear, though Wright told police he was tired of taking care of the boy, who had heart problems and needed a feeding tube.

The child's mother, Jesslyn Lirette, came home Sunday and found the house blocked with police tape, Silverii said, adding that officers who told her of the killing were in tears when they left her.
