A man shot in Charlotte, N.C., during a protest over the fatal police-involved shooting of Keith Lamont Scott has died, according to reports.

CBS affiliate WBTV and its news partner, the Charlotte Observer, cited unnamed sources close to the family of 26-year-old victim Justin Carr, who was shot in the head about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday – on the second night of angry protests sparked by Scott's death.

NBC affiliate WCNC also reported the death, but did not identify the victim.

The City of Charlotte initially reported the victim was shot and killed, but later corrected that to say he was on life support and in critical condition.

The city also said the shooting was "civilian on civilian" and not officer involved.
