A 43-year-old Pennsylvania man who shares the same name as the 25-year-old Casey Anthony of Florida, who was recently found not guilty of murdering her child, says he has been bombarded with calls, emails, and Facebook contacts since the verdict was read, reports
NBC’s Philadelphia affiliate.
“After the verdict that day, it went crazy,” Anthony, of Darby, Pa., told the affiliate. “It was like everybody wanted to know and wanted to comment on this Casey Anthony situation.”
Anthony was hit with hundreds of Facebook friend requests. Then, since his phone number was listed on his Facebook page, the calls started.
“[They were] making comments about the verdict; who am I to take a child’s life,” Anthony said. “It went from being comical and scary to just being outright, make you mad as -- you know. Cause these people don't even know you, they don't have a clue."
Anthony contacted the social networking site, which gave him some options to defuse the situation, including creating a brand-new page with a different name.
The Florida Casey Anthony last week was acquitted by a jury in the killing of her 2-year-old daughter.
