Brett Kavanaugh said Monday he has complete confidence President Donald Trump is "standing by" him.
In an interview on Fox News' "The Story," the beleaguered Supreme Court justice nominee said he was assured of the president's support in a personal call from him Monday afternoon.
"I know he is going to stand by me," Kavanaugh declared. "He called me [Monday] afternoon and said he is standing by me."
A nearly half-hour interview of Kavanaugh and his wife Ashley contained the first televised remarks from the SCOTUS nominee since an accusation of sexual assault that alleged occurred decades ago surfaced a week ago.
A Senate Judiciary Committee hearing to interview both Kavanaugh and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, is set for Thursday.
