Boehner Spokesman Buck: Obama Shows 'Contempt for American People'

By    |   Tuesday, 05 November 2013 02:54 PM EST

President Barack Obama's "deceptive" comments about American's being able to keep their old health insurance under Obamacare show "contempt for the American people," says House Speaker John Boehner's chief spokesman, Brendan Buck.

Buck sent an email to reporters taking Obama to task for his pledge that "if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it," The Hill reports.

Obama had been delivering that message since the healthcare law was enacted in 2010. But now millions of policies are being canceled because they don't comply with Obamacare rules, forcing Americans into new policies.

Obama said Monday night that "what we said was you could keep it if it hasn't changed since the law was passed."

Boehner apparently wasn't swayed.

"When did you say that?" Buck asked. "Can you show us one example of when you said that? Just one. No, you can’t."

Buck ridiculed Obama's stance.

"What kind of leader, caught in blatant deception, responds by inventing another one?" he said. "How much contempt for the American people must one have to keep brazenly misleading them?"
