The nation's top diplomat in Ukraine might testify publicly in the House impeachment investigation of President Donald Trump after last week's closed-door session before House committees, according to news reports Wednesday.
Bill Taylor is weighing public testimony, CNN reports, citing "a source familiar with his thinking," though he has not yet been asked to appear.
Taylor, 71, the U.S. chargé d'affaires to Ukraine, testified last Tuesday in the impeachment probe — though sources told CNN he told lawmakers he had never met directly with President Trump.
Taylor's 15-page opening statement in the closed-door session was posted by The Washington Post.
He also testified that he was told that President Trump made the release of security aid to Ukraine contingent on Kyiv publicly saying that it would investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, and would probe an allegation a Democratic National Committee computer server was in Ukraine.
Trump has repeatedly bashed the House investigation as a "scam" and a "witch hunt."
