New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton understandably disagrees with a January 6
New York Times editorial calling on Mayor Bill de Blasio to fire him for failing to stop a work slowdown by police officers.
"That editorial is crazy," Bratton said Tuesday on PBS's
"Charlie Rose." "What they’re advocating is basically, go to war with the cops. What’s that going to solve?"
Bratton said NYPD officers have now returned to normal work levels.
"We have not had to use the approach that The New York Times would encourage," he said.
"The last thing you need is trying to instigate a widening of the gap. I’m trying to work to close the gap. So that type of language is very inappropriate in this discussion.”
