Former Vice President Joe Biden has been tapped to deliver the commencement address at Colby College next month.
Biden will speak to the graduating class of 483 on May 20, the private liberal arts school in Waterville, Maine, announced.
"Vice President Biden's lifelong public service has been marked by his commitment to equality of opportunity, global cooperation, human health, and violence prevention, and all in a spirit of acceptance and bipartisanship," Colby President David Greene said.
"These are themes and values that we address in the Colby community and explore through our education and research."
Biden will also be presented with an honorary doctorate from Colby.
The Delaware Democrat served seven terms in the U.S. Senate before successfully running for vice president with Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama in 2008.
"Vice President Biden's career in public service is truly remarkable, with his values and lived experiences informing and guiding his work," Greene said.
"That is a message I know our graduates will carry with them as they move on to their lives after Colby."
