A progressive website has started a petition for Betty White to speak at the Democratic National Convention.
Change.org is a non-partisan platform that allows its users to start their own petition drives, USA Today reports. White, 90, endorsed President Barack Obama in May.
The petition was started by blogger Peter Slutsky. A Newsmax check on Tuesday at 7 p.m. found that 11,409 people had signed it. A similar campaign was started on Facebook, with 1,964 signatures.
“Gov. Romney can have Clint Eastwood and his improvisational skills because President Obama has the one and only Betty White!” the petition says, referring to Eastwood’s speech last week at the Republican National Convention.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan were nominated to head the GOP ticket against Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in this year’s presidential election.
