Who says Republicans and Democrats can’t work together? Former Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., is joining with Andy Card, former President George W. Bush’s chief of staff, on a mission for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce,
Politico reports.
The two will hit the road to “carry a bipartisan message on regulatory reform,” according to an internal memo from Chamber President Tom Donahue. The memo was first published by the Center for Public Integrity’s iWatch News Tuesday.
“We don’t see this effort as an ‘us-versus-them’ issue,” Chamber spokesman Tom Collamore told iWatch News. “Having a Democrat of his [Bayh’s] stature gives the effort more heft and an important perspective.”
Bayh and Card will make speeches and media appearances across the nation to help the effort.
