Schwarzenegger to Star as Cartoon Superhero 'Governator'

You don’t have to worry about former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger leaving the public stage. He's turning into cartoon superhero “The Governator” in a comic book and TV show, Entertainment Weekly reports. Both endeavors are being developed with "Spider-Man" co-creator Stan Lee.

 

“When I ran for governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about ‘the Governator,’ I thought the word was so cool,” Schwarzenegger told Entertainment Weekly. “The word ‘Governator’ combined two worlds: the world of politics and the movie world. And [this cartoon] brings everything together,” he said, citing not just his roles in the governor’s mansion and the “Terminator” films, but also his past as a bodybuilder and another film vehicle, “True Lies,” in which he played a spy leading a double life.

 

“The Governator is going to be a great superhero, but he’ll also be Arnold Schwarzenegger,” Lee told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re using all the personal elements of Arnold’s life. … Only after he leaves the governor’s office, Arnold decides to become a crime fighter and builds a secret high-tech crime-fighting center under his house in Brentwood.”

 

The roster of evildoers includes a supervillain syndicate, Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars & Irredeemable Ex-cons — known by the acronym G.I.R.L.I.E. Men.
