New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo booked 200 hotel rooms in Washington, D.C. for his family, friends and potential supporters of his future run for the presidency to attend the inauguration of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, according to Page Six.
"A little overconfident," one Republican told Page Six.
After Donald Trump won, Cuomo directed a staff member to call New York Republican Party Chairman Ed Cox and offer him the 200 rooms in the Loews Madison, a hotel in downtown D.C.
One source told Page Six that Cox was grateful to Cuomo.
"The best part is Cuomo booked so early, he locked in a really low rate," the source said. "Rooms in D.C. are a hot commodity right now."
Cuomo has been critical of Trump. The Rochester newspaper Democrat & Chronicle reported that he has promised to fight hate crimes that have increased since Trump's victory.
