Anderson Cooper may get to polish his game-show hosting skills as part of a one-time quiz-show special CNN is mulling for Presidents' Day, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Cooper, who gained wider notice when he hosted two seasons of ABC's reality competition "The Mole" in 2001 and 2002 after a stint at ABC News, would lead the program, this person said, which would focus on trivia and knowledge about presidential politics.

TVNewser previously reported CNN's plans to test the program.

CNN has proven more willing to test new concepts and formats under Jeff Zucker, who joined the Time Warner-owned cable-news network in 2013. CNN has opened its primetime schedule to a series of documentary films and docu-series hosted by people like Lisa Ling, Mike Rowe and Anthony Bourdain during the tenure of the former NBCUniversal CEO.

Cooper regularly hosts "Anderson Cooper 360," which has been a staple of CNN's primetime lineup since September of 2003.

A timeslot for the quiz show could not be immediately determined. Presidents' Day takes place on Feb. 16.
