The Fresno Grizzlies, a minor league baseball team, apologized for a video showing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., while audio of the late-President Ronald Reagan is heard warning about "enemies of freedom," Roll Call is reporting.
The team, affiliated with the Washington Nationals, issued the apology late Monday on its Twitter account.
"We are aware of the problem with the Memorial Day tribute video shown in the ballpark between games of Monday's doubleheader," the team wrote.
"A pre-produced video from outside our front office was selected; unfortunately, what was supposed to be a moving tribute ended with some misleading and offensive editing, which made a statement that was not our intent and certainly not our opinion.
"We apologize to our fans and to our community for the error and for not properly vetting the video. We also apologize to those who have served and are currently serving the country for the undue distraction on such a solemn day."
The team, saying it was embarrassed, also apologized to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez.
Roll Call reported that during most of the video, Reagan can be heard delivering his 1981 inaugural while images of the U.S. military, Arlington National Cemetery, a flag-draped casket and fighter jets are shown.
However, near the end of the video, Reagan talked about “the enemies of freedom.” During that segment, images of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Ocasio-Cortez were shown, according to Roll Call.
